Voting 2011. What a pain.

So I walked into my polling station at around 5:35. There were about 25 or 30 people in there, to be expected. The whole process at my polling station at Mary Queen of the World was completely disorganized. There was a girl at the door reading a book, there were 6 tables in the small gymnasium/ rec room sort of area for voting, and one table randomly placed in the middle of the room. I had to vote at table/station 69. Honestly, the undying teenager inside me giggled a little. :P Only me.

Anyway, like I said, there were about 30 people in there voting.  EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THESE PEOPLE WAS LINED UP AT STATION 69.

WTF.

It as like a free donut table and we were all cops lining up for our daily glee.

At Table 69.

Hrm. :P

Anyway, at 4 of the other tables, there were seniors and teens, waiting for someone, ANYONE to not be crying out "69". Some had given up the fight and followed the girl/bouncer at the door and were flipping away at the latest romance novel. ONE WAS KNITTING.

OH.

MY.

GOD.

Let's throw on top of all that the two very friendly folks who were running said table 69 were seniors, and having to do literally EVERYTHING at half pace. Let's not get into them having to swear in someone. The line fell from 25 to about 18, as people walked out in disgust. All the people could do at each of the other tables was look at each other, shrug, and turn the page.

How sad really, that with 5 weeks to figure out how to do this, the people in charge of vote collection couldn't get off their collective asses and actually do this right. The thing I heard most in the lineup? Nothing about an remarkably interesting campaign it was or how nice the weather was outside, it was:

"F*cking civil servants."

I wouldn't go so far as to say that, but this was certainly an issue worth looking at. Harper, Layton, Ignat... Ignatie.... anyway, you guys can make a campaign promise to do this right next time, you get my vote.

How cute that people include the Bloc in their graphics. Not hard to tell we're Canadian. :)
